This is a fairly simple trick, and you dont really need me to teach it, but I'll give it a go.
The manual is something you can learn from the word go. Before you can ollie you should be able to pull off the manual, although to get anywhere you need to be able to ollie into a manual. The manual has 2 uses, firstly, it is a good trick to do when you have little room, a big flat space or a great ledge that is unfortunately not grindable. Secondly manualling is a great way to improve your balance for grinds and freestlye tricks. Manualling is simply leaning back on the tail to bring your nose up in the air. Your back foot and your tail must stay off the floor though. Use your arm to balance yourself and be aware of how much you are tipping in either direction, and learn to balance yourself out mid manual. Longer and faster manuals can only be achieved through lots of practice, and luckily it's very easy to get a lot of practice in with this trick.
